Whiskey Bent BBQ Ham and Bean: Soup A Hearty, Smokey, Comfort Classic!

A hearty and flavorful soup perfect for chilly days, packed with tender ham, beans, and a touch of Whiskey Bent BBQ “The Brizzy” for extra depth.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 2 celery ribs, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- A dash of crushed red pepper flakes
- 4 cups chicken broth (or vegetable broth for a lighter option)
- 2 cups chopped cooked ham
- 2 (15 oz) cans Great Northern beans, rinsed and drained
- Whiskey Bent BBQ “The Brizzy” seasoning, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
1. Sauté the Veggies
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion, carrots, and celery. Cook, stirring occasionally, until tender (about 3-5 minutes). Add the garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
2. Add the Seasonings
- Stir in the bay leaves, dried thyme, paprika, and crushed red pepper flakes. Let the spices bloom for about 1 minute.
3. Simmer the Soup
- Pour in the chicken (or vegetable) broth and bring to a low boil.
- Reduce the heat to low and stir in the chopped ham and beans.
- Season with "The Brizzy" to taste for that perfect smoky kick. Let it simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4. Final Touches
- Remove the bay leaves. Ladle the soup into bowls, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve hot.
