Whiskey Bent BBQ Ham and Bean: Soup A Hearty, Smokey, Comfort Classic!

A hearty and flavorful soup perfect for chilly days, packed with tender ham, beans, and a touch of Whiskey Bent BBQ “The Brizzy” for extra depth.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 celery ribs, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • A dash of crushed red pepper flakes
  • 4 cups chicken broth (or vegetable broth for a lighter option)
  • 2 cups chopped cooked ham
  • 2 (15 oz) cans Great Northern beans, rinsed and drained
  • Whiskey Bent BBQ “The Brizzy” seasoning, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

1. Sauté the Veggies

  • Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  • Add the chopped onion, carrots, and celery. Cook, stirring occasionally, until tender (about 3-5 minutes). Add the garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

2. Add the Seasonings

  • Stir in the bay leaves, dried thyme, paprika, and crushed red pepper flakes. Let the spices bloom for about 1 minute.

3. Simmer the Soup

  • Pour in the chicken (or vegetable) broth and bring to a low boil.
  • Reduce the heat to low and stir in the chopped ham and beans.
  • Season with "The Brizzy" to taste for that perfect smoky kick. Let it simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

4. Final Touches

  • Remove the bay leaves. Ladle the soup into bowls, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve hot.

This savory, comforting soup is a one-pot wonder! Perfect for a cozy meal that’ll warm you right up.
