Smoked Easter Ham with The Old Fashioned
If you’re looking for the perfect way to serve up a holiday ham, this smoked spiral-cut ham is the way to go. With layers of The Old Fashioned rub and a touch of sweetness, this will be a showstopper at your Easter table.
Ingredients:
- 1 spiral-cut ham (preferred for best results)
- 1 bottle of Whiskey Bent BBQ The Old Fashioned rub
- Rib Candy or homemade glaze
- Turbinado sugar
- Fruitwood of choice for smoking
Prep:
Set up your smoker to 250°F using a mild fruitwood like apple or cherry.
Place the ham flat-side down in a large cast iron skillet (or a pan with sides to hold glaze for basting).
Apply The Old Fashioned rub in between the slices.
Drizzle the outside of the ham with Rib Candy, then sprinkle more rub on the outside.
Smoking & Glazing:
- After 30 minutes, lightly drizzle Rib Candy or homemade glaze over the ham and lightly reapply rub.
- Baste every 20 minutes and reapply rub after each time—repeat this process 5 times.
- After the final baste, apply turbinado sugar and DO NOT BASTE AGAIN after this step.
- Increase the smoker temp to 275°F for the final 30 minutes to set the crust.
Final Steps:
- Remove the ham from the smoker and lightly tent with foil for 20 minutes.
- Slice, serve, and watch everyone go back for seconds!
Pro Tip: Serve with a side of smoked mac & cheese or honey-glazed carrots for the ultimate Easter feast!
